I just finished putting the pistons in my build here lately, just make sure that you leave a little bit of the piston sticking out of the bottom so that you can use that to start the piston in the cylinder, and also make sure that the ring compressor is completely flat around the piston make sure that all the sides of the compressor are even. I just used a mallet with a rubber handle and tapped the top of the piston with the handle and it goes in but make sure that the compressor is completely over the cylinder, also its not a bad idea to tap the top of the compressor after you put it on the cylinder....if you have any questions let me know and ill try to find some pics of how to do it...

here is my 2cent...in the passed several years i have done many piston installs...if you use some type of lube/oil it will slide in easier. also dont be afraid to tap itn but remember if it starts, then stops your ring is hanging. stop where you are and re tighten the ring compressor..if you have a shitty piston ring compressor it may be easier to use a small flat tip screw driver... if you use this method, gently push the piston in as you go around the ring, do one ring at a time. it might take a little longer but if you dont have a good compressor it will still be faster.
