HELP! Parking brake keeps turning on by itself!
Hi all. First time poster here. I’ve come into a problem that has me and my car guy stumped. We’ve recently replaced a broken abs speed sensor (back passenger), not sure if that’s playing a role in this issue or not so I’m adding it in.
Two issues:
1. If I use my parking brake, sometimes I can’t get it to go back off.
2. Sometimes the parking break randomly turns on by itself without me touching it when I park and then it won’t turn back off. I’ve had it turn off after turning my car back on once or twice before but this time it’s not turning off.
What could be the cause of this and is it an easy fix? Speak to me like I’m dumb, I’m not a car girl. lol 😅
Thanks for all your help.

The wheel speed sensor is part of the Electric Parking Brake circuit. It may or may not have anything to do with what is occurring
Why was the wheel speed sensor replaced? Was there something else repaired/replaced before this, such as brake pads, etc?
Recommend getting the car scanned with a scanner capable of reading Honda ABS/VSA trouble codes to try to narrow down the cause.

I’m guessing Honda dealerships will be the only place that has such a scanner, right? My car guy has a fancy scanner because he works on lots of vehicles for work and for fun, is it possible for him to have one of those scanners?
Thanks for your replies. It’s really appreciated.
To replace the wheel bearing, the brake caliper and pads needs to removed. Due to the electric parking brake, the brake system needs to be put into the "maintenance mode" before that. If this was not done properly, either electronically or manually, there is a possibility this caused a malfunction in the electric parking brake actuator. When there is a malfunction in the electric parking brake system, the parking brake may not release.

How can this malfunction be fixed? Do I have to replace the actuator?
