HELP: No Vtec and oil light is on at start
If you start the car and the oil light is on that means you have zero oil pressure.
Don't even drive the car 15 feet. Broken Pump or worse...

Its a brand new, straight from honda oil pump. Its not the pump.
And the bottom end was just built with everything done correctly and with all new parts. Im thinking its a clog in the head. The oil light does go off after thoes first 8sec.
Anyone else have anything??

sounds stupid but, oil level? using the right dipstick.
I would also hood up an oil pressure gauge. also might be a clog in the oil pickup/screen

Oil level
Nah. Like I stated before, I checked the oil pick up screen on both the vtec and oil pickup. Everything looks good.
Anything else it could be?? Or should I just get my head re-done??

Dude if you figure it out let me know i have the same problem the oil light will come in for like 4 seconds then slowly fade away and not come back. My VTEC is also not kicking in. I checked everything it could possibly i think that would disable vtec no cel here either.
i have heard low oil pressure will not allow vtec to engage don't know if it holds any truth there is so much BS on here.

The low oil pressure is a reason for vtec not to kick in, that is true. Which is most likely my problem, due to what though, I dont know. Thats what Im looking for someone to tell me incase I over looked something else I could check out.
The oem oil light come on (I think) at about 7 psi--which is VERY low. If your oil light is staying on even for a bit after you start the motor up there is a problem some where. Perhaps your bearing clearances are too large, or the one or more of the bearings could be grinding away and it won't be long before you hear a knock--not saying that is what happened but is def. a possibility.
Well I have confidence that everything was put together correctly using all new berings, so I wouldnt think that, but I guess anything could really happen.
Anyone else have any suggestions on what I should do first?
