Default help needed with 97 coupe and motor mount problem

i have a 97 coupe, and the other day i noticed the motor jerk back when decelerating. I did a visual inspection and noticed that the bracket that the rear motor mount goes in is broken. the motor mount is fine its just the bracket where the bolt goes in.

a friend said i needed to replace the whole subframe? true? do you think i can get it welded in the meantime? I ask because its my daily driver and i cant have it out of commission for long

thanks

Can you get a pic?? Try shining a flashlight down there and using a camera phone or something and snapping a pic... It'll be a lot easier to help you out if you do...

If it is the 2 metal tabs that stick up, that go on each side of the bracket, that are broken, then yes, they have to be welded... If it is the bracket itself, then it can be replaced

Is that theeeeee..... Drivers side??
It's a bit out of shape, but a shop can toss the car in the air, unbolt that mount, weld the tab back in place, and bolt the mount back up...

Might also want to check your other mounts as well... I've only seen that happen on cars that are driven REALLY hard... I mean... Downshifting from 4th to 2nd and stuff... a lot! lol

So your other mounts could be bad, letting the engine move enough to tear the steel mount bracket... That's pretty tough to do...

Hmm... Im too lazy to walk down 3 stories of stairs and pop my hood... lol
But if thats from the pass side, then i guess the mount itself (the silver colored part of it) would be the part mounted on the chassis... Sooo.... That could very well be an L bracket, which is a replaceable part you could find at a junk yard... It would bolt to the motor, and then the mount would bolt to the car, and then a bolt would attach the mount to the bracket...

It's been awhile... But that could be the case... Hopefully someone else can chime in and back me up or correct me...

hmm that makes alot of sense. all i have to see is if the broken part is atached to the motor, and that would be it right? im going to go check now.

could this fix my problem maybe? the first item
