Ok...so there is no checke engine light...yet the car hesitate between 1k-2k rpm...its like a sudden sputter and then once I go to higher rpms it is not really there anymore. It starts happening about 15 minutes of city driving stop and go. ANy ideas what this might be? Is it soemthign with the distributor since it seems to be rpm related?

 

Maybe your fuel filter, or spark plug/wires or distributor.

 

sounds like ignition to me, or the timing mabe?

You don't indicate the year and model, but have you checked the O2 sensor? I had surging/bucking symptoms most noticeable at 25mph in 3rd gear. It was a lazy O2 sensor in my case. You could unplug yours and see if it goes away. This will of course set a CEL you'll have to clear later.

 

fixed it...was a messed up spark plug throwing a misfire code 71..changed it and its running fine.
