Help me diagnose my engine noise... just rebuilt d16z6, vids inside
K so I finally got my engine assembled and got it running, It only seems to be noisy when is cold , noise is mosty gone when warmed up
Here is the set up-
D16z6 w/stock sleeves
CP 9:1 75.5 mm Pistons
Scat Rods
New OEM Mains (clearances platigaged to 0.0014 to 0.0015 on all 5 journals)
New Clevitte 77 Rods bearings (clearances were 0.0011-0.0013 on all 4 rods)
New Seals Valve, main, & oil Pump
Cometic 75.5mm 0.030 Head Gasket
Arp Headstuds
Head is stock , Valves have been adjusted Intake 0.008 and Exhaust 0.009 when cold
Block has Been Decked (I measure about 0.008 was removed)
Head was Milled (not sure what was taken off..... I'd guess a few thou)
Oil Pressure is good cold start up is almost 70 (I have it tee'd off going to the turbo)
I havent been boosting on the engine yet my BOV is removed so air can vent
Timing set at 16 deg
The noise is not noticable when driving and doesnt seem to get any louder when reving the engine at idle
A reputable shop here in calgary did the machine work on the block and was bored out to 3.5 thou piston to wall Clearance, My block was done at the same time as my buddys (legendboy) and his came out with no probs, he has cp pistons aslo.
I have about 25 km on the block so far and seems rings have started to seat as I did compression test and was about 160 across all 4 +/- 1 psi between cyl. 1st Oil change had no metal shavings in it at all and was clear as hell. Running Sae 30 oil with no detergent.
Here is a vid from cold -- Please Save as..
