Default help me answer this question about b16a2

I have a b16a2 bottom end. I was wondering if you can put a b16a1 on top of it, but im worry about the hp.Is it going to be the same as an b16a2, b16a1 or something else? I want to go fast and do everything right. Just dont want to waste my money if it doesnt produce 168hp, which i want 168hp not 160hp.
So thanks for your help.

a b16a2 short block is virtually the same as a 1st gen b16a short block.

The difference is in the cams.

Before you put the A1 head on, get some cams and port it. Even if it takes a while you will have more power because of it.

Do you mean a 2nd Gen JDM B16A as opposed to 1st gen JDM B16A??

The 2nd Gen JDM b16a produces 168hp

but both the 1st gen JDM b16a and the B16a2(USDM) produce 160hp so if your mounting a b16a 1st gen on to a B16a2 bottom end there's no way your gonna produce 168hp anyways.

Some more info please

what??

the casintings for the head and block are the exact same.
the jdm motors have .5 higher compression because they have access to higher octane gas (the 8hp on the second gen). the cams are diffrent between first and second gen as spade said.

I don't know if you were replying to me Kamin but what spade and you said is what I was explaining as well. Unless he changes the cams from a JDM second gen B16a there is no way he'd get 168hp from mounting a 1st gen b16a on a usdm b16a2

Yes you will have 160hp. Unless you use the cams out of a 2nd gen Jdm b16a.
