Default HELP!!! Main relay/fuel pump/ ignition switch???

HI!, i've searched and read for days now and still have no clue to whats wrong with my car... i have an integra that on obdII under the dash and obdI on engine harness...
sometime the car dies while im on the roll(any speed) i tried popping the clutch but it still wont start when it dies while rolling(if rpm is not above 3.5) it wont get going. sometimes it just dies out at idle and it'll start back up if started in the first few tries and i have to keep the rpms up past 4k...if not it stays dead untill everything is cold again...
the problem i have is soo inconsistant that i still cant figure out whats wrong with it. I have tried numerous different distributors so i know thats not the problem...
i've tried 3 different main relays and it still does the same thing. the only thing i haven't changed is the pump and ignition switch... the pump primes everytime though...(could it just be a bad pump?) maybe when the circiut gets hot the pump quits??? but if the pump is bad then i assume it will not prime, correct?

honda-tech has always come to my rescue in the past, so im hoping you guys can help me out again... its just one of those things that's kicking me bad

thanks for looking

interesting that you had the same similar problems that my friends 98 civic went through.

we replace the ignitor and main relay but the problems still existed. we replace the ignition switch.....problem solved.

i would try a ignition switch......

not sure what year your teg is but the civic's had an ignition switch recall on 99-00. it is very common and is a free repair. The integra's proly share the same recall.

what were the exact symtoms you guys had with the bad ignition switch???
my motor turns over, has good spark, i can definately hear the pump whining, but i wont start!!! could the pump not be pumpin enough fuel or how does a bad ignition switch cause so much trouble???

my friends civic had a stalling problem after driving a while......once it stalled it would not re-start for about 10-15min.

while it would not start there was no power at the fuel pump, no spark, no injector pulse and no power to the ECU.

we checked/replaced the ignitor and main relay but the problem was still there.......once we replace the ignition switch the problem went away...

well i put in a new 3bar map and let it idle for like 30 minutes and it ran fine... i did this in the cold after i got off of work so i'll have to wait till morning and try it again and see if the problem is solved... then i also plugged in my old 3bar and it idled for a good 15 minutes... i went ahead and turned it off because its freezing outside so i'll have to check everything again in the morning...

i hope the problem is fixed for good... thanks alot for your help and check your IM...

well it turned out not to be my 3bar map... i went back and diagnosed everything again and came to a conclusion that my resistor box might be bad... i have spark, my pump works fine, but i didnt see the top of my piston get soaked of fuel so the only thing left to crap out is the resistor box...( i know my injectors work)

- check all ur grounds, make sure there is no corrision on ur battery terminals....i have seen to many cars with corrosion and wonder y this and this doenst work.....

- ur power wires that feed the fuse box... i have seen them wiggle themselves loose and lose contact causing the car to die.....

- chipped ecu? bad ecu? bad chip

- sounds like wiring prob, check wiring at ur dist plugs......

keep me posted let me know what u find

I'm having somewhat of a similar problem.

It started a couple of days ago.

After driving around for a while I would hear a clicking noise coming from under the dash on the passanger side. The car would "die" when it clicks and come right back to life in a split second.

I removed the glove box and im 100% positive that it's the main relay making the clicking noise. So I bought a new one a replaced it.... that didnt solve the problem.

What could cause the main relay to click like that?

Maxime,
