Default Help with LS Vtec build.

OK, whell ive been searching alot on here and ive read alot of poeple say that the block will last and be reliable if you build it the right way. well i just got my ls vtec yesterday and im going to build it up for boost. the car its going in is a 88 crx hf.

Question is, what should i do to my motor for it to be done right. i want it setup for 10lbs of boost or less. i want to be in the low 13's.

any suggestions would be great, also any links that i can read about a build up.

im having a friends friend build the block, i just have to tell him what i want. he gets parts for real cheap and he owns a machine shop. he isnt a honda mechanic but he has worked on them. so, from what i hear, i want everything forged. im just sure whats good for a turbo setup. or what kind of CR i need.

Thanks for the help.

OEM BEARINGS.....nothing else....I repeat OEM bearings
resurface head, block, flywheel
ARP Head studs and rod bolts
type r/gsr oil pump
22T water pump
hoan the cylinder walls and new rings at least (might as well replace pistons since ur in there)
New timing belt

most important....don't rush the build, take your time and double check everything.
Also get it tuned once your up and running. Its a shame to see a good motor go to **** for nothing.

oh yea since your going turbo and only gonna boost up to 10 psi....get a block guard, if you wanna go all out get sleeved. The stock sleeves will hold up to 10 psi, but its a good idea to solve a potential problem while your in there.

Thanks for the info,

i dont plan on rushing this build because nothing comes out good when its rushed. i have the whole winter to get this done plus the other thousand dollars worth of parts to put on this crx.

the problem is, is that i dont know what to tell the guy who is building my block. like what size pistons to get and if i want to bore it, sleeve it. i heard that there is something to do to the crank. i want to build the engine so that if i get a craving for more power i dont have to build the engine up again for more boost.

also im looking for parts for the head. only thing i have is cam gears. i want some good turbo cams, new valves and springs and whatever upgrade anyone is selling. let me know.

again thanks alot for sharing your knowledge.
