HELP - Just got in deep sh*t
Hey guys,
I don't know I may have the worst luck. I bought some wheels today and put it on.
Somehow, the left front one's lugs was loose and I forgot to bring my jack with me.
So as I was going home from the freeway my wheel flew off, luckily it was 11:30pm no car were there and it was on the side of the streets, i veered steered and got to safety.
Now my fender's damaged and so is my brakes, irony how I just bought some brake rotors , pads, calipers for my car yesterday.
I'm wondering how hard is it to remove the fender? since the fender's curved in.
Anyone pleaseee tell me specifics on how to remove left front fender for 96 honda accord V6?
oh and why everytime i drive...i here some noises, like scratching and scraping noises...help

its easy to remove your fender take a 10mm socket there should be 3-4 screws on top under the hood and you got one under the door and maybe one behind the corner light. That scraping noise might be the dust cover for your brakes it might be bent somehow. try to straighten it out with pliers. make sure its not hitting the rotors
i fixed the scraping noises, it was the....dust cover?? that was touching the rotors..the little piece that looks like a fan behind the rotors, thanks..
but the fenders...there seems to be screws behind the side skirts??? and near the door, how the heck do i get it out.

that happened to my on my old 87 vw gti two days after i got a new black paint job, and my new 16" oz's with new tires, driver's side front came off at about 65mph. But it's okay cause that made me to decide on motor work rather than the showy looks. It's gone now anyways.
did you use a 10mm socket? how do you take the side skirt off, i took off the five on the bottom , and the 3 in front and back of the fender..
oh ANYONE know where i can buy the piece that covers the rotors? dust cover? whats the exact name of it? that's like a piece of metal...bendable one i guess.

AHHH, i know how thats feels, happened to me once after a show in daygo, when a team used my rims to show on, and didnt tightn them back good enough, so it fell off at the dennys down the street, and driving back i had to pull over and tightn it ever now and then, my fender was kinda messed up also.

if you remove the cover doesnt the rotors get dirtier and more prone to rusting? and are you sure taking it off won't do anything bad
it's the little piece thats like behind the rotors right?

Well... sorta related story... we'd just finished up installing some new coilovers on a friend's Accord yesterday and we have the driver's side rear wheel off to adjust the springs a bit and the damn thing fell off the jack... that was interesting.
Luckily we had three guys there to lift the car back up, and the owner's little brother put some blocks under there so we could let it down.

I think i know what your problem is dude, and what caused your problem. Maybe I am wrong, but those look like acron style stock lugnuts.
almost ALL aftermarket rims need tuner style lugs. Because the lugnut doesnt sit firmly into the rim, it is almost impossible to get the correct torque on the wheel.
look at your lug nuts. if the end that touches the rim looks like ) instead of > then that is your problem.

they are stock nuts....
damn i should have known..
whats the difference between tuner nuts and stock nuts? can i get the tuner lugs over at Kragens, Autozone, etc?

the tuner nuts have a flat angled face.
The acron nuts have a rounded face.
by face I mean the part that touches the rims.
Your rims MAY take acorn nuts though. look at the stud holes on your rims. if they are flat you need tuner lugs.

i had never considered the nut base to affect the ability to hold the rim.
this benefits me greatly, just dropped 1500 on some new rims-tomorrow i'll get the appropriate equipment.

Honestly, I cant be 100% from looking at the picture, but I am pretty sure they are tuner lug type.
Do everyone a favor and take one of the nuts off, then take a picture. You will be able to see the wear mark left from the lugnut in the hole. A tuner lug should scrape the paint of the entire angled surface. You acorn lug will only put a line on the outside edge.
This also holds true for the opposite. Make sure you carry acorn lugnuts to be used on your spare tire.

is that the wheel you tightened the ish out of? looks like you deformed the wheel holes. You might want to have a shop look at your wheels and make sure they will still correctly accept a tuner lug.
you can get tuner lugs from Motorsport Dynamics. They are are on Arden way behind Dimple Records if you didnt already know.

i'll bring it to america's tires, it was like that after the wheel came off at 75mph
ah fck....bad news =P
can i still ride on them acorns? or will my wheel fall off again? i'm like in panic now..
