Default Help with ITR big end bearings

OK My whole engine rebuild project has been stopped as I am having problems working out the right sized bearings.

All the conrods are stamped "25"

There are no letters on the crank where the manual indicates

the Honda manual also mentions bars, are these colour or number of dashs?

There are none where the manual indicates.

The crank has not been machined but the bearings are black and no colours can be made out on them.

I only have some faxes from honda of the manual pages, is there somewhere I can see these online incase I am missing something (i.e. like the info I need on the next page)

Honda are useless here, they have suggested buying a set of each and plastigauging the lot to find out which is correct, please help there must be a simpler way!!!

I'd say go with the ACL's. They're "one size fits all". I just installed some in a B16, plastiguaged everything and they all wound up in the middle of the acceptable tolerances for new bearings. Research prior to my purchase found many happy users.

I got mine from Earl, both sets + thust washers. Send him a PM and see what kind of deal he's running for HT members now.

I qould probably go that route, but I am in the UK and I wouldn't even know where to start looking for them over here.

I'd PM Earl. If he's willing to ship FedEx Int., you're set. If not, maybe he could tell you if they're distributed in the UK.

Honda are going to take the crank away and check the sizes, I presume they are as puzzled as we are as to why there are not markings for the rod journal sizes.

I think that the JDM ITR use those weird rods with that code on them. I work at a dealer and there isn't any rods with that code on them that I know of except JDM ITR rods. Mabye someone in Japan can help.

Could be right but as Honda are taking the crank to measure it all up they will be able to sell us the correct bearings.

You could be right about JDM as the UK engine B18C6 is pretty much the same as the JDM B18CSpecR engine (same compression etc... unlike US engine)

That is what I suggested, anyway Honda will pick up the crank tomorrow and will not be charging for any time spent on it

Just found out from Honda that Blue and Black are on back oder till mid Jun in UK so if any of mine turn out to be that I stuck.

Just a thought is it possible to have the journals machined to fit the bearings available? i.e. if I had a set of Green is it possible to get the journals machined to fit those with the correct clearances???
