HELP! Im a gross polluter!
[626]Rj-SiHatchy: I went to the Shell station on Santa Anita, the one just up the street from autolink. Its a test only station so its a bit more expensive. The guy there is nice enough to rev your engine up for a minuite to get the cat hot before the test. To pass I replaced all my parts back to stock except the cams but I think it would help to swap the cams back. good luck!
AmignE: I fixed the by changing the gaskets. In places where there were no gaskets I used some permatex copper liquid gasket. It worked great but you can only use it where there will be no flex like after the cat, not at joints with spring bolts.

Good to hear you passed ernie! New Zealand doesn't have emissions tests as such hence the majority of car enthusiasts here run without cats though I think that will change in the near future
Thanks for the link Tink

erniecars, you did a lot of work to get your car to pass. Congrats. I am glad you passed. I respect guys who work on their own cars and can get it to pass by their hard work.
Do you think you failed due to the leaks in your exhaust system or bad 02 sensor? Or was it the combination of both problems?
Would it have passed without the carsound cat? Do you have cam gears also? Did you reset your cam gears?

The reason it was so hard to pass in the first place is I have a b16a in place of a b18a and the test is done based on requirements for the b18a. I think the main problem i solved that helped me pass was the O2 sensors which were not working right at all the were causing a very lean mixture. Im sure the cat helped a little but I think I could have passed with the old one. I do have cam gears but they were at 0. A friend of mine got his car to pass but advancing the intake cam on tooth, or about 10 degrees on his prelude. I dont know if would work with a b series.
