Default Help identifying an issue I'm currently having

I have a 97 Civic LX with type-R swap.

I had an issue last month where my timing belt somehow jumped a tooth. Before that, he replaced my fuel pump because he thought that was the issue.

After the guy fixed the timing issue, I now I have this issue where once I start my car when engine cold, the engine dies out. The only way to keep the engine running is I have to hold down the gas for about 4 minutes to warm the engine up. After that, it doesn't die out when I take my foot off acceleration pedal.

Updated- Video of issue:

Another issue I'm having is when I accelerate, my headlights get bright, once I take foot of acceleration pedal, the headlights go dim. This issue has to be connected because it started at the same time as the other problem.

What could this be? I'm hearing it may be the battery, or the alternator.

After talking with my friend, he doesn't think it is the alternator because he said my car should die out no matter if the engine is heated or not. He still gave me a spare alternator. Should I get this installed tomorrow or do you think the issue is elsewhere?

Hopefully someone can help me out :-(

thanks,
Jeremy

Run a compression test. See if there's anything wrong with the motor. Make sure the valve cover ground, assuming you have one, is still connected.

The engine runs strong once heated up if that means anything. Even on high RPM's pushing it. And the ground is intact.

To test the alternator start the car an have it running an pull the positive battery cable off. If the alternator is good the car will continue to run if the car is dies then the alternator is gone.

I got the alternator tested and it was good. Here's a video of my issue:

My car also as an alarm system with kill switch. It came with the car. Don't know if that has anything to do with the issue.

Don't see how this can be an alternator issue. Kinda sounds like it's just not getting fuel. Do the injectors spray when you attempt to start it? What size injectors are on it?

I don't know the sound I should be listening for as far as the injectors. And the injectors are the same stock B18C ones. I didn't mod the engine at all. The issue started when he fixed the timing. It wasn't doing this hours before the work. It's crazy

He took off the valve cover, the ground wire, he disconnected my cruise control part to get to the timing belt and tensioner, and he took off one of the brackets (the one by timing belt). Could something have happen or come loose in that process?

Why are you asking if something could have come loose? Check it since you're right there!
Maybe you might want to verify timing then.

Actually, why did you not take it back to the guy that seems to have caused this in the first place and make him fix your car?

Like I said before I'm not really tech savy as far as engine work goes. That's why I why I came here. I can't verify ish. I will just dish out the cash and have someone look @ it. I didn't wanna take it back to the same guy, I have lost confidence in him.

***Issue Resolved***

I got my wiring harness changed to a SOHC V-TEC wiring harness and also got my ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) Sensor replaced. Now car starts up without stalling! After reading this, it made sense:

Thanks everyone for your pointers.
