Default HELP! hard shifting

I just recently put a new engine and trans in my 1990 Accord. The engine and trans were out of a 1992 accord. The transmission is hard to move towards the right side, 5th and reverse. It wil go into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th easily but when in neutral and I try to move it towards reverse or 5th it is extremely hard. Any ideas? thanks

Perhaps the linkage was tightened down too hard? Just a thought...

The linkage is a cable linkage and is held on by cotter pins. I think it is something inside the trans.

could be the trans or the shift cables could be going bad. maybe the gear selector on the outside of the trans is hitting something. i dunno. just a couple suggestions.

Can you adjust the cables? I know my TSI can be adjusted. Take a look.

The car shifted fine with the old trans so im leaning towards a problem with the new one.
