help - getting 4-1 header running a PR3 (twin O2 ecu) - what are my O2 sensor options
OK,
got a B20VTEC runing an OBD0 pr3 ecu.
it needs two O2 sensor inputs to run in closed loop.
the ITR header has a single heated o2 sensor bung,
my options:
1. weld two bungs in the manifold in 1 and 3 pipes;
2. fully convert to OBD1;
3. run a chipped ECU which disables the 2nd o2 sensor; or
4. run in open loop all the time (bad for milage!)
please help, anyone got around a 4-1 header issue like this with an OBD0 ecu before? surely there have been a few...
thanks,
t..
PS what is required to convert to OBD1 - ecu, harness and dizzy?

tinketbell, try to bridge the input using the primary input.

so run a 4 wire sensor at the ITR manifold location and bridge the input at the ECU from the #1 (primary) o2 sensor signal?
this will work, but will it cause rough running or poor milage?
thanks greg,

I don't see a problem... As long as you "T" it off the ECU just recognizes the oxygen sensors ouput voltatge and it will be seen as the same voltage will be sent to the primary and secondary... Good Luck... You could also have an O2 port welding in right after the main flange... That wouldn't make the header look ugly and it's almost easier to do than playing with the wiring... Latez

i am thinking that this may be the best option, jsut have to make sure i have the right O2 sensor to the right cylinder...
converting to OBD1 sounds silly now doesnt it...
thanks both you guys

if you bridge the signal from one sensor the car will run like crap.
I HIGHLY recommend converting to 92-95 spec ecu. the car will run MUCH better
and your tuning options are much broader

Is this where I chip in with the "RUN A MICROTECH" comment!!!

I would chip the ecu and-or convert to obdI. But you will also have to find a dist & a piggy harness . while you are at it i would look into a HONDATA system!!! (just my opinion.)

Hondata's are a bit of a mystery over here. We have a heap of aftermarket computers that locals know a bit better

sgT,
you are right - there is no way it will run right running from a single bridged o2 signal when the ECU is compensating for 2 pairs of cylinders...
i am just going to put a bung on 1 and 2 and run both unheated o2's on hte manifold. (this will work wont it?)
PLUS look into a OBD1 conversion...
what ARE the benifits of a P28 or similar ECU?
many thanks,

To answer the question, I just fitted another bung to the other secondary pipe and ran the standard sensors when I had factory EMS
