help on fixing loose ebrake..
i own a 98 civic ex.. my ebrake is loose ... it will work but i have to pull the **** out of it and will still not work that good. anyone have any info on how i can fix this?
Here's the general idea.
jack up the rear end, and have a friend spin the rear wheels, then pull the ebrake to make sure both the wheels stop. If on;y one of them stops, then you'll have to take that wheel off to make sure the cable is still connected.
If they both stop, then you will need to pull the cover off the ebrake, and there is an adjusting nut, it'll be pretty obvious once you get in there.
Here is how you adjust it. Pull the ebrake up two clicks. Have your friend spin a tire, and then put a ratchet on that adjusting nut, and start tightning. As soon as the ebrake catches the spinning wheel and stops it, then you can stop tightning the adjusting nut, and you're all done.
