Default HELP: Engine removal of b20/b16

I recently bought a 86 civic hatchback with a b20 block and b16 head! (edelbrock intake, 440 inj, hks titanium valve springs and retainers, 70mm throttle body, 18g greddy turbo kit, zdyne comp, apexi nea fuel controller) but anyways the bottom end is stock so it recently went out. so... i started takin wires off the engine and all that minor bullshit but since im used to older rearwheel drive cars idk the easiest way to yank the engine out. so my question is... CAN I DISCONNECT THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE ENGINE WHILE IT IS STILL IN THE CAR AND JUST PULL THE MOTOR? im new to the imports so idk much about 'em.

if you do that you only have one mount holding the tranny in. pull both out together.

if you want to take out the tranny you'll have to pull it from the bottom. but best thing is get an engine hoist and take out both tranny and motor from the top. really easy to do if you know what you are doing. most experienced people take about 45 minutes to take out the whole motor.

sweet. i'd rather take it out the top cuz i don't have a lift. is there a book or website that would help show how to do that.

1. rent or borrow or use a hoist. no lift needed
2.disconnect harness and all fuel and coolant hoses attached
3. drain oil from trans.
4. drain and remove radiator and associated hoses
5. remove axles not from the hub just pull them from the trans and the half shaft.
6. disconnect shift linkage by using a bolt appropriatly sized to knock out the pin connecting it to the trans.
7. disconnect header from the catalytic converter
8. remove rear engine bracket bolt
9. attach chain from hoist to engine and trans.
10. remove side engine mounts
11. take the motor out through the top.
Done!

if i missed anything sorry i wasn't trying to walk you through step by step but that should be pretty much all you need to do. or go buy a guide at autozone...
