While driving the engine will not refire after letting off the gas until you give it substantial throttle input. I have to almost put the pedal to the floor before the engine will refire and yesterday even that wouldn't restart it. I had to downshift a few gears before it would refire. The odd thing is the car will still idle decent and doesn't seem to have a big of a problem in the lower gears. I'm guessing it is somehow load based? The problem doesn't occur every day and in fact hadn't happened in a long time, but last night on the way to work it got really bad. The gauge cluster remains working during the problem.
In addition to this the car has a problem cranking while the engine is hot. This seems to be the symptoms of a bad main relay, but I'm not sure if the relay would cause the first problem.
Any ideas?
Car is a 1994 DX hatch with a turbo B18B.
