Default help with ecu chipping

okay so i have a chip and a socketed ecu
the ecu already has a chip in there and i wanna switch it with a different chip
is there any precautions i should take when replacing the chip?

is it a ZIF socket? if so just undo the locking lever and lift out the current chip. if it's a regular socket, i guess you'll have to very carefully yank it out... . if this were mine i would then install a ZIF socket on top of the DIP to make life easier. i prefer the low-profile ZIF.

that's the DIP. just take it slow pulling it up and you should be fine.

Wonder how many people have them laying around handy...



If you're just changing the chip, just be careful and pull it straight up and take caution not to bend anything and reinserting the chip is just as easy, pretty simple.
