Default Help on deciding on what to do with bottom end please?

Apparantly the B16a2 in my car was a piece of . From what I've found out from having it worked on the previous owner basically did a patch job on it and it started coming apart on me.After have the head repaired I sent my car to another shop to put it back on and found out the #2 cylinder was scored and the ring land was bad. My first option is to just put it back together and have it run like crap but I dont really like that. The only thing I like about that is its free and I dont have any money to fix it. If I go to a bank a get a loan, which I dont think will be a problem, then I have other options. Keep in mind I'm never a person to replace. I think f you are going to spend money on your car it should be better for it. Also I plan to got turbo in the future but obviusly I cant afford that right now if I dont even have the money to fix it, and I'm not willing to borrow extra money to do that. Thats just for insight into where I should go with the motor. The first option the guy gave me was bore out the cylinders and of course replace the pistons. Then do use higher compression pistons and gain more power or use lower compression ones for when I eventually go turbo. Then there is the option of swapping the block with either a ls,gsr, or a crv block. The guy at the shop does have a ls block in stock. Then again do I use the stock pistons or do I use stronger ones and again high or low compression. Also when I had the work done to the head I had Crower springs and retainers in so I would like to be able to take advantage of them. I didnt get the cams yet but I was planning to do that in a month now it probally will be a few more months. I realize the set up I choose really depends on what I want but I think better when I hear other peoples opinions. So what I ask of you is to tell me what you would do and why. I need to figure out what is best in terms of power, reliability, and cost. Hopefully some people with good engine building knowledge can give me some insight to make the right choice for me.

If you know you want to go turbo, then now is the time to start. If you are gonna take a loan out and your car is down anyway....pistons, rods, and balance the crank, and sleeve. Compression? If its a street car don't go lower than 9.5:1. Bottom line, if you like your motor, fix it right.

Hrm,

First things first. The B blocks are all the same other than the B20's have a 84mm bore so don't bother with the damn LS block.

Second, the most you can bore out to is 81.5mm without resleeving (stock being 81mm).

If you plan on turbo and obviously are looking into true power and reliability I would go with some forged rods http://www.theoldone.com and forged pistons. Compression should be no more than 10:1 and no less than 9:1. The crank can should be balanced. You should look into replacing the water pump and timing belt. Possilby the clutch as well. This is all going to cost a bit.

I have heard of people running the DragIII kit on there engine stock. I.E. Mike.
So you may want to look into a basic rebuild with stock parts and the DragIII turbo kit. Better way to go as long as you don't get boost greedy.

If i was in ur situation i would just build a CRVTEC. All you really need for the bottom end is pistons. A lot of people say that you should replace the rods, and i would because they are well worth the lil extra money however my friend built his CRVTEC and uses stock rods. He reved his motor to 9500 and it did just fine, but unfortuately the last time he ran it up with JUN type 3 cams they shattered when the valve bottomed out. So that motor went bye bye and he just got done with his new one. Just take the time do it right and if you use any high profile aftermarket cams buy the whole valvetrain by them. So if you get Toda cams get the Toda valvetrain and Jun cams, Jun valvetrain. You should be able to use ur stock rods just fine with ARP rod bolts but the lil extra $300-350 is worth it for like Eagle rods. CRVTEC torque is nice!!!!!!!!
