Default HELP deciding between b16/b18

Ok so ive been searching around the forum for a little while now for some hard evidence on which motor to choose for my EG. I realize i need to set a power goal first, before deciding which motor to go with; but i just not some quick opinions or suggestions. I was looking into doing a b16 with buddy club spec 3 cams or just a GSR motor. However how what kind of power differnces am i talking between the two motors each having the same cams in them? Thanks a lot men! Basically, is it really worth paying the extra $800 for a GSR if i want to make around 200 wheel to start?

well the GSR has more power then a b16 and is about as reliable as the b16, if u were to put some bc 3 on there, u prob have to upgrade the valve train and make sure ur compression can push that so it runs correctly.

it just depends on what ur real goals are, HP vs Reliability, u want a good motor that can be powerful and last.

i like the GSR because of the bigger stroke then the b16 and the girdle on the bottom end. i personally would get the gsr but since ur on a budget, u can put that xtra 800 to the b16 like cams and valve train ect.

I think if you are looking for just an engine swap with a couple of bolt ons a b16a would be the way to go - jdm b16a tranny's are geared better so it makes up for the lack of torque and if you get your horsepower up with a gsr it will probably run faster cause of the tranny - but if you are looking to make alot of power with turbo or built all motor then the taller block, longer stroke does help

if you want to keep up with the compitition on todays streets you gotta go with the gsr or even a type r. when you take your honda out there its not about beating other hondas your competing against evo's and wrx's. if it were a couple years ago b16 would have been great but there is alot tougher cars out there now. its more money but even if you gotta save for a couple months it will be alot more worth it

Definately tougher EVEN against other hondas. Because that kid sitting next to you in staging lane saved all his money last year to buy the gsr motor you want now and has already upgraded something.
So now you are 2 steps behind.

Welcome to racing. Where everything costs money and if you're lucky nothing breaks.
