well last night for the first time I got my car running but I'm throwing a few codes. to start off I have a 90 CRX Si with a 1st gen B16 and a PW0.

So far I'm CEL's 7 (TPS), 4 (map vaccum), and 21 (VTEC solinoid). Ok now my TPS isn't hooked up yet since I broke the one that came with my motor and haven't installed the new one, I don't have all the vaccum lines hooked up either so that explains map, now that leaves 21 but here's the thing I check all the wiring with a voltmeter from the solinoid itself to the ecu pin and it gets connectivity.

I tested the solenoid with giving it some power and it clicks like it's supposed so I figured it's good. I used Katmans diagram for the VTEC wiring if anybody was wondering and yes I did connect it to A17

is there anything else that I'm missing here? I'm thinking I might have a bad ECU but I'm not sure yet

 

thats a good one. we've been tryin to figure it out too. i was with my buddy a couple weeks ago drivin down the road and his timing belt broke in his gsr. only bent two valves surprisingly. anyways we took the head off took it to the machine shop got it fixed put the head back on the car and fired it up. ran great took it for a ride and the cel came on. pulled a 21 same as yours. he forgot to take the vtec solinoid off when he took it to the shop. we figurured it ruined it when they boiled it or something. so we took my vtec solinoid off my b18c and put on his, reset the computer and went for another drive. pulled the same code. so we dont know what to do now. sorry this doesn't help but would like some info on this also.

oops my bad I typed A17 for some reason instead of A8 but yes I do have it hooked up correctl

anyways if anybody can help out or suggest anything that would be awesome

 

bump, somebody has got to know the answer or some advise this is driving me nuts
