HELP: cant rev past 6500>
i dropped in a b16 in a teg and for some reason it can't past 6500.. it doesnt redline, but when it goes up around 6500 it sounds like it's getting reved really high. and it does struggle around 4500-6500 and slowly stops right at 6300-6500.. what may be the problem on this?

there are no obvious problems with the wiring harness.. everything is plugged in correctly and no cuts or breaks in them.. and the timing is perfectly dead on straight..
can the vtec solenoid do anything to affect it like that?

what's a vss and cel? it's not that it redlines at 6500. it just lags and when it gets there, it struggles bad..
oh and i'm using a p72 ecu

would the vss do that to the car? and about the check light.. it's only knock, which i know doesn't cause it to stop around that rpm.. ill see wussup with the vss tho.
If you have a knock sensor code (23) vtec will not engage. If you have any real codes it may keep v-tec from engaging these are the most common 17 VSS, 22 Oil pressure, 23 Knock. Also take your v-tec solinoid wire and touch it to 12volts + and see/hear if its clicking. Its like a realy so you can hear it
it's weird, cause when i check for codes, the check light just sits there(no blinking at all) what's going on there?
i'm thinking it's the vtec solenoid. but thanks for your help

yeah if no codes it should activate. Do you have enough oil, low on oil will prevent v-tec. Or go with the prior and touch the green/white vtec sol wire to a battery + and make sure it clicks
