Default HELP Brakes

My car is a 95 civic hb
I removed all the brake lines and porportioning valve from under the engine bay.
So now that i have everything all put back together I refilled the resivor for the master cylinder with dot3.
I had my buddy pump brakes and i bleed it starting with the one furtest away from the master cylinder. On all 4 brakes had pressure (squirted out fluid clean).
But my brakes feel very mushy, i could go all the way to the floor with it.
I step it in all the way then back it out then it has a little bit of pressure but i could still go to the floor with it.
What do you guys think it could be? Also there are no leaks or anything. It seams to me like its the mastercylinder, but i wanted to know what you guys thought?

When your bubby was pumping the brake pedal was he depressing it all the way to floor? is so, you may have damaged your brake master cylinder. Your only suppose to depress the brake pedal only half way down it's travel.

Yeah he didnt depress it all the way.
I was just thinking if the master cylinder is messed up would it still build pressure when im bleeding the brakes? cause it has pressure then it looses it? thanks

just keep bleeding it, it takes time to get all the air outta empty brake lines. Pump the pedal til you get pressure hold it to the floor crack the bleeder open and close real quick just do that over and over again. I had a bitch of a time with mine. Would rather waste brake fluid that is cheap then get a master cyclinder

It is not really going to mess up the master cylinder depressing it all the way to the floor, but I would say it is probably the master cylinder or one of the calipers. All the pistons in the calipers and the master cylinder have seals and if run dry or let sit for a while can go bad. It is building pressure, but it can;t hold the pressure it is leaking back past the piston. I would check the master cylinder first.
