So im just doing a basic wire tuck no cutting ot extending wres. Im having problems with the headlight harnesses. How do you get them into the fenderwells? The plugs are too big to fit through the litte holes behind the shock tower

ok there is a few people on here with an EG with a wire tuck...use the search function as will I, and i'll see if i can find anything...ive seen it before so i know its there...somewhere

 

I cut my wires, and ran them through a whole in the bay, then soldered and heat shrunk them once through the fender wall. You can remove all the black wire protectors, and seperate the headlight harnesses, then pull them through the firewall and run them out through the holes in the doors inside the cabin. You have to extend the passenger side though I believe, driver side is easiest. Just do it the good way and extend all the wires, do both headlight harnesses, and it should look like this.....

 

I really didnt want to cut and reconnect wires. I swore a saw some topic called wire tuck 101 and a guy explained how he did it without cutting anything. I cant find the topic now though

 

Just de-pin the clips, run the wires, and re-pin.

 

Sorry never had to de-pin anything how do i do this? Is there a special tool or can i just use a small screwdriver? Im guessing you just unclip the pin and pull it out?

 

yeah, just unclip and reclip. I used a small screw driver that is out of a reading glasses kit. I've used a paperclip befor in the past as well.

On a recent tuck, I drilled a hole next toe the battery holder. Ran all the wires in threw there.

 

dude you are gonna [freak] something up, just leave it alone...or learn how to do it right. Im not hating on ya, I just dont wanna see you posting a thread on which pins go where. Honestly cutting and soldering would probaly be easist for you cause all you have to do is match color to color

 

I would highly suggest not depinning plugs. That's where the hell starts, believe me my friend got caught up big time in that.

Can someone tell me how removing the pins from one side of a 2 part connector is more difficult than having to cut solder and heat shrink wires? Pins are push and click, that's it. The wires are still colour coded with the pins attached.

As long as you still have one side of the connector in tact it's not really that hard. Make sure to make notes if there are any changes in wire color from one side of the connector to the other.

If there are no wire colour differences then all you have to do is match the wires on one side of the clip to the corresponding ones one on the other side of the connector.

If your colour blind or unable to make small notes and not loose them then by all means cut the shyte out of your harness. It will however increase the probability of a week point in your harness if you don't solder or seal it properly.

 

Yeah i found de pinning to be alot easier. Although im having some problems getting the pins out on the passeger side connector the hooks the a/c up. I de-pin it from the side that connects to the other side right? Should i be prying on the metal tab or try to reach farther down to the plastic?

Should i be prying on the metal tab or try to reach farther down to the plastic?</TD></TR></TABLE>2 pin connectors are not that difficult to remember, but most of those harnesses have 14 or so wires, and how do you plan on pulling the wires far enough out of split loom to push them through 1 at a time so you dont have to unpin them all at once...and you can [freak] up the pins and harness if you dont know what your doing, good luck finding them in a pinch...depinning can be done , but if this kid isnt that experienced, its pretty easy to [freak] something up...then again theres only 1 way to learn. take your time and make good notes

 

Sorry, don't mean to bump up this old thread but isn't there a way to run all the wires in the T-Bracket, I remember my friend telling me something about this.
