Default help...another timing question...

alright just tyring to make sure they are not trying to rip me off....my timing belt blew and has a hole in..so i took the car to the shop, and they tried to start it. it start up but doesnt turn over, but the timing belt moves. now i know i have no compression with a blown timing belt. but if the timing belt moves(even though it has a hole in it) does that mean the bottom end could be messed up??? i thought they would have to put on the timing belt and then try to check the compression?? help.

yeah there is the possibility of piston hitting the valves if the belt slips so check the head and pistons.
