Riding in my girlfriends car tonight. Hear a rattling sound. Drive on for a minute. Car dies. Get out and look under the car. One of the bolts came loose on the alternator and it slid down. The belt was hanging. On 240s This belt goes around the alternator pulley and also drives the main cooling fan. I believe this was only off for 5 minutes or so and the temp gauge didnt go up. What specific damage should i be worried about?

 

if the car didnt get hot you have nothing to worry about except for repairing the alternator and belt

 

As long as you were moving during that 5 minutes the fan wasn't doing anything anyways.

got the car towed to a (honda) dealership my friend works at. ill have to check it out tomarrow cause it was closed already. i didnt think anything would have been damaged but i just wanted to make sure. i appreciate your responses.
