Find some insulating wrap (bubble wrap with aluminum on each side) from Home Depot. Then do this:

Alot of people believe this is going to benefit them a good deal, but if you go with a high quality intake, then you dont have to worry about it. Yea it may look kinda cool when done correctly, but you dont need it. AEM uses aluminum which in itself does not conduct heat verywell, and they use a special paint i believe it is a ceramic coating to further help with this. Iceman uses a plastic that doesnt conduct heat very well, and Injen uses a similar setup as AEM. Just some thoughts. However if u get a cheap intake from say ebay or something and it is thin wall steel or something else, then you may wanna look into wrappingg it.

What about a DC DAC intake. Should that be wrapped or is it made not to conduct heat like the intakes stated above?

would like to draw this to your attention guys....

A standard motor 1.8 L ( for me). At 9500 rpm thats 17100 Litres of AIR rushing through. Considering this is flowing through a tube of less than 3" it has to be going VERY FAST. Now correct me if I'm wrong but it air does not conduct heat that well ( compared to water but thats besides the point). I'm sure the speed that the air is travelling is too fast to conduct any noticeable differences in temp.

If you are that worried, I think try wrap your headers or HPC them... That's my .02 feel free to flame me if you feel otherwise.

i actually have to agree with above, it seems that if you reduce the heat being released from the hottest items in your engine bay, you would be able to keep everything cooler. its not gonna make that big of a difference n-e wayz

crack open your computer...

what's sitting there? an ALUMINUM HEATSINK (which by the way..the more air flow you put over it, the better it cools)

aluminum, next to copper and silver is an IDEAL heat conductor.

the coating AEM puts on helps a little...but wrapping will certainly help a lot.
