Default Header Design

I have a question on the influence a header has on an motor's powerband. Would a 4-2-1 "tri-y" header with a 2.5" collector yield more midrange power than a 4-1 header with a 2.5" collector? Thanks!

it really depends on the design of both headers. just sayin tri-y and 4-1 doesnt say
enough.

I'm trying to compare the DC JDM 4-1(1.75" primaries) to a 4-2-1 tri-y (45mm primaries, 50.8mm secondaries and a 65mm collector)? I'm just trying to see which header design will yield more midrange (4k-7k) power?

i have allways been told that 4-2-1's will make more midrange power, and that 4-1's make more top end

in theory the tri-y should make more power between 4-7k rpm on any of the b & h series vtec motors with stock cams ... the exhuast pairing will determine absolute powerband, also the intake manifold type also has to be entired into the equation (which I think is what steve meant) ...

search the net for some writeups from john grudynski or even visit his site(hytechexhaust.com)
