The D16A1 engine from 86-89 Integras has one head bolt that doesn't line up with any of the 88+ Civic/CRX blocks/heads. btw what chassis/drivetrain are you racing?

You DO still have some options though. The ONLY engines that share the D16A1's head bolt pattern (in the Americas at least) are 84-87 Civic/CRX engines, i.e. the EV*, EW*, and D15A* engines. Now you'd still have to figure out a timing belt idler pulley if yours doesn't line up, and I'm not sure if all of the water passages line up correctly, and you'd probably need an adjustable timing puller to set the cam timing right, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and dozens of other little problems, etc, etc. But it IS possible!

There is also an even BETTER solution. The bell housing of the 84-87 4WD Civic Wagon is the same as the D16A1, so you could bolt the 4WD Wagon engine to your 1g teg tranny and voila', you are done. You'll lose 0.1L displacement, 4 valves, and about 25-30 hp, but it's a dirt cheap drop-in affair and the 3g Civic engines are a bit more stout than their later brethren.

You might also want to check out http://www.redpepperracing.com/ (mostly 84-87 Civic/CRX stuff) and http://www.g1teg.org/ . Feel free to IM or email me if you've got questions.
