if i remove the head off of my b18b, what is the prpper procedure in preparing the block and head surfaces prior to replacement

do they both need to be resurfaced of just one....
please help.i know nothing

The need to resurface is determined by laying a straight edge across the decks and trying to put a .001-.002 feeler gauge under it,if the feeler doesn't go under the straight edge then you are okay and don't need a resurface.If this is the case just use a jitterbug sander to clean the deck surface of any dirt or silicone.
