Default Head gaskit replacement???

I am in the process of rebuilding the motor from my integra. I did the piston rings, rod bearings, etc. MY question would be is it necessary to replace the head gaskit aswell. It was in perfect working order and does not look bad. The funds are kinda running out and I am trying to save where I can. Let me know....

I've re-used them up to 3x. Run it over with some copper spray and call it a day.

So where can I get this Copper spray and what is the procedure for coating it? do I do each slide or just on the outers?

Thanks for the reply.

Okay well I disagree with reusing a head gasket and I would recommend getting a new one... Why get cheap at one step of reassembling the motor... I always get a new headgasket even if the head has been torqued down but never run... This is just me tho... About the copper spray, I still use it... Here's a pic...

Sorry I forgot to tell ya... I just tie a thin piece of wire through one of the end of the headgasket then hang it up in the air... Lightly coat both sides till you have a solid copper colored headgasket... Wait a few mins then install... Good Luck

I don't really consider it cheap to re-use a head gasket. Done it several times and not one has ever leaked. Seems like getting a new one every time is just throwing money away.

Okay well maybe you're right about being cheap, but I still don't and won't do it... $65 isn't that much to have a brand new headgasket... Latez

Yes head gaskets are a one time crush thing. When you have used it already you should not reuse it. it can be done and I have seen a reused head gasket seal again but it did not last very long. Plus they only cost about seventy dollars list price from honda.

Yeah yeah...we all know what you're supposed to do...or not do in this case. I've had the head off my GSR about 5x. That's $350ish in head gaskets if I replaced it each time. I've replaced it once and never had a problem with the seal. Total savings...$280. That's roughly what I paid for a clutch, flywheel, IM, Hondata...etc. Adds up fast. I may well have to alter this policy with the 85mm 12.5:1 compression I intend to run soon, but then I don't plan to have the head off so often in the future either. Your milage may vary. Have a bros.

I think I will replace it as the motor has 160,000 KM's. I have allready done so much that it would suck if I had to take the head of after pushing a litle to much boost on an old head gaskit.
