Default have you ever hack sawed through a CV axle?

pulling a trans from a junk yard, not allowed to have power tools. axle is seized.

was thinking about going back in there with a hack saw, but i haven't used manual tools since the day i left my Amish community on rumspringa.

Can anyone tell me, how fast a hack saw will cut through an axle? also keep in mind there may be little travel room with the blade under the car.

or is there possibly enough room to leave it on the hub side and pull the knuckle back far enough?

'95ish honda accord auto trans.

take a hammer, 28oz or larger is what i prefer. use this to undo the lower ball joint. the axle should be able to come out. if you still need more room (if it's really stuck hard) move on to undoing the tie-rod end. this will allow a large amount of movement and the axle should come out.

if all of this fails, cut the inner boot and the axle will separate.

a hacksaw would do it... but nowhere near as quickly and easily as the above method.

oh, did not think of that, thanks!

so just cut the boot with a razor and pull?

and no power tools int he junk yard that can create sparks. also as shady and unsafe as this place is i would be afraid to use power tools in there.
