Default This happened to you???!!!!

I've noticed that when I go on little road trips(no city traffic), after about 30 mintues of fairly hard driving (85+m.p.h.) that my air/fuel meter starts to lean out(or it shows that it is lean in the red zone). I know that they aren't the most accurate readings and that a wideband o2 sensor would be much more accurate, but why is that happening? Is it happening because the exhaust temp. is really getting hot, or does the acutal sensor read that my mixture is relly that lean? If so what can I do about it, and is it harmful to my motor? One other thing that I have noticed is that if I let the motor cool off, then it will start to show up as though it were rich again. What would happen if I sprayed my nitrous during this particular time if it is showing up lean? any and all information would be very helpful

most likely the system is going into closed loop mode. It will run lean for fuel economy. If you sprayed make sure you have a good AFC or VAFC to adjust the fuel enrichment.

I have a VAFC, but does that mean that I need to go back into the settings that I have now and reset them to a more rich setting when I see that the a/f meter is reading that it is lean? I'm still wondering if that is going to cause any motor damage to my car also.

I assume this situation changes when you open the throttle...or go to WOT? If not I'd think this the only cause for concern.

Even if I open it WOT the color in the A/F ratio meter stays in the red. I still can't figure out why this is happening. As far as my plugs are concerned they are pretty dark, so I know that I'm running pretty rich........or atleast I think

Sounds like a goofy meter or connection to me. Is a shop with wideband possible?

I'm nost sure if Lightning Motorsports has one or not, but I'm getting closer and closer to the point where I'm going to have to konw before I boost my motor.

If it's running well I'm sure it's nothing, but better safe than sorry.
