Default IT HAPPENED!!!!

well i got the tranny out of reverse by just playing with the shifter and pushing and pulling..lol. on my way to my moms house to get my check that was sent over there(I KNOW I SHOULDVE WENT TO THE SHOP FIRST) I was on the highway just crusin at 55( STILL BREAKING IN THE NEW BUILT UP MOTOR) and all of a sudden my cruise control went off and i started slowing down, i check the shifter and it was in neutral, i tried to shift back to 5th but it started grinding so i just put back in neutral and pulled to the shoulder of the highway.I made a complete stop and turned off the car. i turned it back on went to first but as soon as i come off the clutch the shifter would go to nuetral and i would stutter and stop (You know just like you let up off the clutch to fast with not enough gas) so i called triple A to come get my sorry stranded and dumb ***, i check to see if the car would start and it would, i also made sure everything else worked such as radio and cars electronics such as windows mirrors and etc... but i noticed that i could shift into every gear without pressing down on the clutch!!!! Now i have to wait to tuesday to get my car to the shop. any of you guys wanna take a shot as to whats wrong with my car, im thinking the cable that connects the shifter to the tranny is broke or popped or something.,,**** i wonder how much this is going to cost.

If the only problem is the shifer linkage, then I wouldn't figure on it costing too much money. I would have to say around 200 at the most. Hope that this helps.

Hydraulic or Cable driven clutch?

Check fluid levels ( hydraulic )
Check cable adjustment ( cable driven )

The clutch is hydraulic on the GSR but the shifter is definately a big metal rod. Preludes use cable shifters.

If something is hanging under your car that is bad. Is it a big metal rod? Maybe the shift stabilizer came undone or something? That would cause something like this to happen.
