h22a1 97 engine problems
i have a 1993 eg civic hatch with a 1997 h22a1 in it
im having engine problems when i turn my car on there is loud knocking noises coming from the engine when i step on the gas the knocking noise gets faster anyone know what it could be or how to fix it

Yeah I would have to agree on the knock being bad....I you caught it early enough you might be able to patch it with new bearings.......need to pull the pan and the rod caps and main caps to tell.......as long as th crank is not scored (at all) then bearings replacement will get you on your way(again I said patch, like a band-aid)
If you bearings are shot you might want to look elsewhere for damage also....
The crank gets oil first and the cams last so if your crank got starved for oil then your cams might have got hurt too......You can replace the bearings with the engine still in the car(messy and a pain in the @ss) but be vey careful with the order in which you take it apart and the torque specs that you use......If the crank journals or the cam journal are scratched enough to grab your fingernail on the its trashed and you nedd to start over with a fresh crank and go from there......keep us posted on your findings

On my old ls i over reved and caused a knocking. it was really loud, and when i hit the gas it got faster, but before we broke down the motor we did a quick valve adjustment and it ran fine, no knock or anything. but i guess i cant really hear your knock.
