Okay this is the deal. I had 2 codes MAP and the TPS. I fixed both but a now my idle surges. I mean it goes from 1/2 to 1 1/2 erratically. It's annoying. I have no cels. When I had the MAP and TPS cels my car ran super rich blowing pure black smoke and a lot of unburnt fuel but I didn't have a surging idle. Please anyone. Thanks in advance.

 

Well lets see here. I have a 94 h22 in my civic and i have had an idle surding problem also. What i would recomend is to take the throttle body off and look for the little gold cover plate with 2 screws in it on the bottom back side of the throttle body. Then take the 2 screws of and remove the little gold cover. Under the cover you will see a plastic nipple that is spring loaded and it has a ring around it with a groove in the ring. Stick a screw driver in the groove in the ring and turn it clockwise until it wont turn anymore. Then put the cover back on and put the throttle body back on. Now start it up and play with the idle screw till you get it were u want it. This should fix your problem. Ive also noticed that you might want to put some hondabond on the idle screw so when u get it where u want it it will stay in place. Ive had some trouble with mine moving. So good luck yo. When you get CELs the car is in limp mode and wil run like *** really rich...so you won't have the idle issue...

Check for an open vacuum connection on the IM, some people miss them, it's a common occurrence when people install cais they forget to plug one of the vacuum ports that used to go to the intake resonator.
