Default h22 flywheel bolts loose.

My brother put a H22 swap in his accord. Swap has been in the car for a couple of weeks now. Well it started making a noise in the tranny (rattling sound) so we thought it was the clutch going since it didnt want to go into gear. So he orders a new clutch and today we pulled the tranny and noticed that all 6 of the flywheel bolts are loose. 3 of them were out far enough that they had rubbed on the friction disc and ground the heads of the bolts down. The flywheel was really loose on the crank also. What are the chances that The crank is messed up (bent or out of balance) Im sure the threads in the crank are messed up . What effect would this have on the main bearings also? Thanks for the help..

Chris

well, hope for the best and put everything back on with locktite on the flywheel bolts.see how it does.
damage could be extensive depending on how long it was driven like that, but to find out you would have to take the bottom end apart to check for bearing damage.

i know this a really old thread, but i had the same headaches for a long time with the flywheel bolts on my h22 coming loose all the time! I finally solved the problem by using washers(not lock washers) on the bolts. It seemed that the bolts were bottoming out and therefore were not holding a proper torque. dont forget the locktight as well..
