H22 OR B18C1
I'm looking to swap. Is the H22 really that hard to install into a 98 HB? What all will I have to buy( EXTRA )besides the swap to complete the install? If I go with the B18C1 I want it ported, polished, with new:retainers, springs, valves with a block guard. So my question is: does any one know a good shop to send the engine(B18C1) too? Would the shop also sell the swap? After all that.....
Which one H22 or B18C1(with some help)
either way there will be a turbo !!!!!!!
With a little Gas
Please help!
Thanks Jimmy

If there's going to be a turbo in the future, don't get the H22. It's a much harder engine to deal with, especially in that chassis, when turbocharged.
My personal vote would be for a B16A (price vs. performance over the B18C), but either way stick with a B series VTEC.

I would definitely go w/ b18c1
The h22 is too much of a bitch to put in, and plus it would be even worse tryin to squeeze a turbo in. H22 with turbo also would be crazy traction issues if you're going to daily drive it

You can find a B18C5 swap for the same, if not cheaper, than a H22A swap in a Civic. You still have to buy a ton of parts to complete swap a H series and the modifications it requires, aren't very fun. To time consuming. B series drops right in.
Placeracing.com has drop in mounts and axles for the H22 in a 6th gen Civic.
However, fitting a turbo and a H22 in a Civic engine bay is VERY challenging. Custom Exhaust manifolds are a given. Kiss A/C and Power steering good bye. Not just one or the other.

Um im sorry but you cant get a b18c5 swap for cheaper than a h22 swap unless the c5 is stolen or something. You can do an h22 into a 96 up civic (i have one and did it all myself) for less than 5k with tons of bolt ons. (i have clutch, flywheel, cai, header, exh, chipped ecu and vtec controller) I also upgraded my brakes for under 5k. If you left the h22 stock you could do it for under 4k. Also the h22 swap isnt that hard. Just alot of wiring. The fitment is actually pretty nice also. The intake manifold is really close to the firewall is about it. So actually you can do ethier swap for under 4k so you decide. They are both great motors. Heres mine in a 97 dx.
