Default Gutting Cat

sup,
im running a b16a2, i have a header, downpipe nad cat back. i was thinking of gutting out my cat. what are the pros and cons of this modification? i know it wont pass inspection, i have my sources with that. im worried that the cops might check under the car, therefore im going to gut my cat. is it something i can do at home, or do i need to take it to a muffler shop to do it. what tools are involved? so mainly i just remove the cat and get all the **** outta there? thanks

I gutted mine and it sounds like crap if I were you I would take off the cat beat out the honeycomb "not very fun" then take it to a muffler shop and have them put a strait piece of pipe through it "less turbulance " but thats just me.You will notice more topend power
more power > pollution

Pros:
The cat is stuffed after about 60,000 miles anyway.
Maybe around 1hp gain.

Cons:
Your exhaust will sound like crap from the crackling.
It's illegal.
Your rear bumper will be dirty all of the time from your exhaust.
