Default GSR swap and harness question

I have a question it may be dumb but here goes :-

I am gatheruing info for the GSR into EG motor swap i plan on doing quite soon . Every post I read it seems that every one is talking about repinning their harness to plug into the GSR motor and ECU .

Now I want to know if when you guys buy a swap dont you get the GSR harness ?
isn't the GSR harness made for the GSR motor and ECU ?
so why can't you just plug in the GSR harness into the GSR motor and ECU when doing this swap , instead of re-pinning the EG harness ?

Not sure. I haven't actually done a swap yet. Check Hybrid forum.

I re-pinned my EG harness !

since that is what people have when they did their swaps !
but yeah , that is a good question !

how do you figure that ?

this post actually made me think that , using the GSR harness may actually be easier ( to some extent ) . since everything just plugs in .
the harness then just needs to conected to the power and chassis and where else and your done .
but hey i could be wrong . i also uses the EG traditional harness setup .

it worked for everyone so it should work for me !

You use the GSR harness, but you need to add 3 wires, and move 2 of them to work properly

so it is ,

Use GSRharness :- either add 3 wires, and move 2
or
Use EG harness :- repin the 6-8 pins ?

Am I correct?

oh ok

What they mean is you will need to move a few pins at the ECU plugs to get the IAB and VTEC solenoid to work. It's not that hard to do. there is a flap on the back of the plug that you need to lift up, then use a safety pin and from the plug in end, to depress the tab in the plug body that holds the pin in.

You do not, repeat, DO NOT need the GSR chassis harness, only the harness on the engine itself. The plugs will connect to the chassis harness in the engine bay.

Ok, it seems your missing it.

Let's start at the top.

Engine is GSR right?

Use the GSR engine harness and

Keep the stock Hatchback internal wiring

It's plug and play under the hood, but you need to run 3 wires from the engine harness to the ECU, and at the ecu, you need to switch 2 wires.

Does that clear it up for you?

yeah, all you need to do if your using a gsr harness into an eg is:

Move pin a20 to a17

and thats it, if you want evap, you'll have to wire that though
