Default GSR oil squirters required ?

I am switching back from ls crank to gsr crank and the squirters are blocked off to clear the ls combo, do i have to reinstall the squirters when i use the gsr crank and rods or will the wrist pins still get plenty of lube?

yes put back in the squirters. stock parts need the lube. only time you dont need them is with forged parts. bearings are more important to lube on the rotating assembly.

Putting back the oil squirters depends on how the motor will be subjected to, auto-x/circuit or drag..I would suggest putting it back if you go circuit racing to add cooling of pistons on sustained high revs.leave it as such if you go Drag.its just a short burst run..

Interesting. There are no bearings in the lower skirt area, but you are clearly saying the oil squirters are important to lube the bearings. What do forged rods have to do with oil squirters also? Could you please explain this? You do realize that the oil squirters have little to nothing to do with lubrication right? If you don't understand how something works, you shouldn't be offering advice to others.

The oil squirters are there to cool the thrust side of the piston skirt and bottom of the skirt. Remember, oil has three functions. Cool, lubricate, and clean. People always assume oil is only for lubrication, which its not. The use of forged rods vs stock rods clearly has nothing to do with the function of the squirters. Its a system used by Honda for continuous high RPM to help with expansion related to heat. You will notice that engines like the LS don't have squirters (not really a high rpm engine) but they do have drilled oil orfices on the thrust side. These serve a similar function...

In conclusion, SHOULD you put them back in? Yes. Its a good system and whenever possible, I would reccomend using it. Do you have to put them back in for it to work? No.
