Default gsr disc brake problem

Ok I just put 94 GSR rear brakes on my 94 civic hb the right rear caliper had a bad rubber seal (I think its would be called a dust boot) can you buy these? I went to an auto store and a rebuild kit was 20 some $$$ and all I need is that boot. I bought a rebuild kit for the front caliper 2 months ago and it was $2.99 WTF

thanx for any help

rear are more expencive usually. the hardware kit should have the boots in them. might be the same thing as a rebuild kit. at the parts store i work at, we call them brake hardware kits.

Umm...Did the seal break recently or has it been a while? If it has been a while, I would advise to switch the whole caliper for a rebuilt one. Reason is because dirt and debris could off lodged between the piston and caliper and scored the cylinder. If it is scored badly, it will leak no matter how much times you switch the seal.

Good news is, you can purchase a rebuilt caliper for $30-$50 from your local Redline or Napa. My .02 cents if it means anything.

No it just ripped when I was screwing the piston back in so I could fit it over the pad and it ripped. Its only $30 more for a rebuilt one but since its not scored or anything should I just get a rebuild kit or a rebuilt one. I’m kind of running low on cash to, and don't really see spending extra money if I don’t have to. But then again i don't want to spend $20 then turn around and spend $50 latter. what would you guys do?

Try checking at a junk yard if you cant get just that boot. You prob can get the boot you need at a Pick-n-Pull type place.
