Got a bad problem with a rounded bolt.
Ok, i got a 90 crx with a DOHC zc. Im trying to remove the water pump, but one of the 2 adjusting bolts on the tensioner is rounded. i went to sears and brought a damages bolt remover kit, but the 12mm wont fit on and the 13 is too big. I tried some fake vise grips, but couldnt get a good enough grip to remove it. Is there any other way to remove this bolt. Also, i may be doing it wrong in the first place(not to mechanicly inclined). Am i trying to remove the right ones, or is there any other way. Thanks
Take the 12mm bolt-out, sit it flat on the head of the bolt, and hammer it onto the bolt. Once it starts to "bite", start turning it while bearing down hard on top of the bolt once it gets onto the bolt a good bit, you can start putting some muscle into the wrench to bust it out.
if you do that, you will then have to get a right hand drill and E-Z out to remove the broken bolt.
or if you have successfully stripped out the hole you till need to get a (6mm or 5mm i cannot memember) x 1mm helicoil kit and install new threads
either way i would not reccomend doing because you will be causing a ton of trouble for yourself.
just keep on trying to remove the bolt with a NEW set of GOOD BITING VISE-GRIPS
