stripped threads on bolt or hole? bolt stuck now...O what a day...HELP!
I was in the process of changing out my headgasket on my b16. in the process of removing one of my camplate bolts, example:
it would only come out half way. by the time i realized that the bolt would not come out, it was too late. the damage was already done. either the camplate bolt threads are stripped, or the threads in the hole are stripped, or a combination of both. i can tighten down the camplate bolt all the way, but, i can only pull the bolt halfway out, as the bottom half of the bolt stays stuck in the hole i can twist and turn counterclockwise forever, but, there is no hope.
stripped threads in a hole with no bolts in it, or stripped threads on a bolt out of the hole i can deal with, but, a bolt stuck in the hole with stripped threads is a nightmare.
i was thinking of some way to cut through the side of part of the head itself to reach the threading from the outside so i can free the bolt in order to pull the camplate out. i know in doing so will destroy the head, but, i have a second b16 head in my garage. i decided to plead my story here first to see if someone can give me a better solution and save my head from destruction.

drill the bolt out with a small bit, tap new threads in it, then heli-coil the bolt hole. we had to do this to my friends camplates on his head & it worked great

personally I'd be reluctant to use pneumatics for any bolts in the head...
