Default Good Nitrous Cams?

I was thinking about getting some cams for my B16A and I'm wondering what you recommend. I have the basic mods (i/h/e) and a nitrous kit. I might boost my car in a year or so. The question is, is there a cam set on the market that will work well with my current set-up that I can also use with a turbo or s/c? I am also looking to maintain as close to a factory idle as possible. Just in case, let's just say that money is no option and I already plan on upgrading the valve train. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, there aren't any cams specifically made for nitrous set-ups. Since you plan to run boost in the near future, you would be best off sticking with the B16A cams or running GSR cams because they have less overlap than other high lift cams which is better suited for boost.

Nitrious is hard to tune/setup for to be honest, because you really are dealing with two situations.

1 - off the bottle (NA)
2 - on the bottle (FI)

Each one the engine is acting very differently than the other.

So there really are three ways to go about it.

You can either focus on the N2O aspect, meaning you base your whole engine package around when you are spraying and accept the lower performance when you are off the bottle. (This would often mean larger exhaust system, cams with less overlap, etc)

You can focus on your NA aspect of the performance, and use N2O as the icing on the cake. Which would be better for driving around, but the N2O would be less effective due to the smaller exhaust, larger overlap, etc

Or you can try and compramise. Find some middle ground between the two.

well i just got some CTR cams. Many people run S2 stage 1 cams. Crower makes a nitrous grind, but you have to contact them to order it, its not on the website.

As stated in the last post, you can gear towards the bottle or NA. What i am doing is tuning my car NA towards my CTR w/ vafc. The only real way I know of to tune on a bottle is to buy a jet kit and change them out to get a better AF mixture.

I believe the Zex cams are geared towards nitrous use with their large exhaust lift and duration. I'm not sure of the overlap specs, but I'm pretty sure Zex would have kept it to the minimum for nitrous.

i spoke to sum 1 at skunk and several times he said when u build an all motor setup your basically building a n.o.s. setup . The guy that built my motor( who also happens to be a major h-t member) said i should have no prob. running a 75 shot . Im running about 11.5.1 c.r. and skunk stage 2 cams . For an insuransce policy i picked up an msd digital sci plus w/ a built in n.o.s retard . Make sure you also have enuff fuel also . Hope that helps a little
