golden eagle cam gear torque?
at anything near that torque, the center portion of the gear where the bolt clamps on to starts to deform and press in. it can't be right. i'll see what GE has to say.
talked to Ted at GE and apparently it's expected that the aluminum will deform under the torqued washers and they do like them torqed that much.
Just to answer the question, YES, torque the cam bolts to 20 ft. lbs. We have checked and re-checked this number and we have had no problems with this issue. We even got a few gears out today and checked them under our recommended conditions and we did not see any failure or have any issues to speak of. Also, the instructions only give suggestive TQ for the cam shaft bolts. We set them to B and D-series specs, prelude may be different, but you must seek this info from a referrence manual or a trained professional. We have since spoken with Torin and can say without a doubt that our instructions are correct for the cam gear adjusting bolts being 20 ft. lbs. Thanks
