getting tranny snap-ring to snap in place -------------------------------------
how in the world do i get it to snap back into place. the case can be bolted almost all the way down. i use my snap pliers to spread it and then i have gramps turn the tranny upside down and we hit it with the hammer to get the shaft to fall. well it won't fall. then we try letting it drop on the floor a few times and it still won't fall. Does anybody have any ideas? how do you guys do it. btw- this is for a b16 ys1 hydro tranny, not like it matters much
do i put some bolts in the housings? we have 4 in there right now, they're snug but not tight. we also tried loosening them more but it doesn't change anything. we were dropping it on the concrete floor from about 4 inches. how high should i drop in on the wood? and should i have any bolts in it when i do it?
could anything inside the tranny be hanging it up? we put my clutch on and were able to rotate the main shaft many turns. we also tried shifting it a lil but i'm not really good at knowing what gear i'm in when i pull the shifter in and out.

i dunno, dropping usually works for me...i say a 2x4 so that you dont drop the tranny on the concrete.
i think i found my answer. i may have a burr in there like this guy did. it's the EXACT same problem i am having so i'm crossing my fingers

i was missing the washers that go on the bottom of the input shaft. that was the whole problem
Yep, usually when it doesn't want to go, something's either missing or not lining up..
