Use multiple jacks to evenly lift the tranny into place. Or if you have one, use a cherry picker with the jack.
Once you get it remotely close into place, try to put in a few bolts and gently tighten to help pull & align the tranny in place.

i always find it succesful to use a jack under the tranny and jack it up while balancing the tranny on the jack once ur high enough, grab ahold of that bitch and push the imput shaft into the flywheel and wiggle the tranny back and forth while pushing, it should line up without to much problem. (then again, im a big kid and i just seem to manhandle it in.) Its also been a while sence ive down this work on the ground. lifts own you.
I use to dowls for the top two holes, that way it lines the tranny up pretty good then just twist it some to catch the teeth and push it on. Also it helps when you have more then one person working with youl.
