gettin rid of brake dust?
i just got new pads and rotors for the front and the front driverside sounds like metal to metal. i brought it to the shop they said it was brake dust they cleaned em out and it helped for about 20 minutes. then the noise came back. how could i clean them out my self. could i just take the wheel off and the pads off and just spray it with a hose???
Abestos was banned for use in brake pads back in the 1980's, IIR. However, same applies...even modern brake dust is not something you want to inhale. It will typically contain some form of iron dust, which can lodge itself in your respiratory tract, and turn into rust...not good. The best way to remove dust is to just wash the car...hose it off with water and soap, and it will drain away.

Metal/metal noise could be from the dust shields interfering with the rotors. Just bend 'em back.
As far as reducing brake dust, try going back to OEM pads. Those seemed to dust the least in my experience. My 4-pot Wilwoods with their PolyMatrix D pads make washing my wheels a completely redundant activity...
